Through its Ta’aruf Center  (Morocco Interfaith and Peacebuilding Research and Training Center) which is managing the project, the Mohammedan League of Ulema is organizing an on-line conference « Preserving and conveying memory to foster Otherness », from January 25th to 28th, 2021, in partnership with the Memories for the Future  Foundation, Archives of Morocco and with the support of the American Embassy in Morocco.

This webinar follows the 1st Regional Conference for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage of Religious Communities (Rabat, October 3 & 4, 2019), organized by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in partnership with the Mohammedan League of Ulema and the American Embassy

The webinar’s objectives are :

  • To explore the issue of memory, its preservation and transmission to the next generations;
  • To revisit the memory of the « International Encounters » which took place in the Benedictine monastery of Toumliline (Morocco) from 1956 to 1966 ;
  • To build a global reflection concerning the role of memory as an essential element to allow opening to otherness, particularly in terms of spirituality, through the case study of Toumliline;
  • To allow young people to take ownership over the notion of otherness and build an open citizenship;
  • To focus on creative and innovative approaches, in order to allow youth to identify key issues concerning themselves and which they wish to engage with to reinvent a responsible citizen debate.
