Mr. Manoël Pénicaud is an anthropologist, researcher at the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research, France) specializing in the study of pilgrimages and interfaith relations in Europe and the Mediterranean world. He is a member of the Institute of Comparative and European Mediterranean Ethnology (IDEMEC, CNRS, Aix-Marseille University) at the Maison Méditerranéenne des Sciences de l’Homme (MMSH). He is also one of the curators of the “Shared Holy Sites” exhibition presented in Marseilles, Tunis, Paris, New York, Istanbul… His research focuses on the interaction between believers of different faiths, and their temporary crossing of religious borders. He explores the notions of inter-religious experience and ‘hospitality’ through the study of pilgrimages but also transversal figures such as Louis Massignon, Paolo Dall’Oglio, Christian de Chergé, Cheikh Khaled Bentounes and Rabbi Nikos Stavroulakis, etc.
