Rev. Karen Thomas Smith (M.Div., Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia; M.A. St. John’s University School of Theology, Collegeville, Minnesota) is chaplain serving the ecumenical Christian community at Al Akhawayn University, co-director and advisor to Interfaith Alliance, a student organization that encourages peace and cooperation between all religions. She is also the president of the Protestant Church in Morocco, and co-president of Al Mowafaqa (Ecumenical Institute of Theology, Rabat). She serves as one of two Protestants on Morocco’s National Council of Churches, and is president of the CEI (Comité d’Entraide Internationale), an organization developing programs to support migrants and refugees in Morocco.
